in F.A.Q's

When student are in 3rd year of engineering, there will be someone who will bring up the topic of GRE, TOEFL and Master’s degree in U.S. University. And it all depends on the college and the exposure among the students, seniors that will ultimately decide how many student from a college will be pursuing Master’s in U.S. When, few are talking about U.S. Universities, I’m sure some students will not even think about that option, considering the family situation, or maybe because, they could have assumed, its highly impossible to study in U.S. University, or maybe because

of the cost involved in the process. If you are reading this, then I’m pretty sure you should have crossed that phase of thinking, but still you reach U.S. its not certain. I knew few who decided not to study after completing GRE, TOEFL, getting LOR, transcripts. Also, I have seen few who came to U.S. University, with the decision of going back to native country after completing Graduate Degree. But, majority stay here and find a job.

The Dilemma

This is the first question that will come to one mind, when a student is in the deciding phase. Also, that question still lingers until they book the flight ticket U.S. University. The dilemma is more among the students who already have a job through campus placement. But, this decision is very easy for student who are already working and decided to study after 1-2 years experience, maybe because of financial situation or maybe they still had that inner push to study for another 2 years, some come to study after getting frustrated with job environment.

The Questions

With increasing awareness of Social Media like Orkut, FaceBook, MySpace, Digg, students have more exposure to find information directly from current students. Here is the list of questions commonly asked by students to current students when deciding on a university to apply or to attend

1) Can I get Aid?

2) Can I get Part time job, if so how much will it pay?

3) This is my profile, can I get admission with Scholarship?

4) What is the cost of living?

5) What specialization shall I study, so I can get job after Masters Degree?

But, there are so many other question students don’t ask, and there are so many other things, which are more important in deciding universities to apply, which they are not aware of. If you read all the articles in this blog, I’m sure you will learn so many things. I put myself in students mind and write these articles. When I started typing this article, the original intent was ” Can I get job after M.S., but I ended up writing about decision making process.

@Pulkit,
I’m not much familiar with M.S. In finance Courses. But, There are few colleges that offer that degree. Can you check if they need GRE or GMAT? If I come across any list of colleges, I will let you know.
