Average GRE Score - University of Virginia

August 4, 2008 by Raghu

I have seen so many students trying to find average GRE score accepted by universities, I happen to find this valuable data from University of Virginia website. Following table lists Average GRE Score for various departments. GRE Score average is calculated from students admitted to the program.

Students applying with different scoring systems, looks like University of Virginia have some formula to convert academic CGPA or Percentage to GPA. I have written GPA Converter guide to give an in depth analysis of GPA Conversion process. Enjoy the following GRE Score tables and I plan to write similar articles for other Universities.

Sir I have managed to obtain 1200 marks in my gre exam….the division being 800 on 800 in quant and 400 on 800 in verbal..will i be able to make it in a good university….or my exceptionally low score in verbal would disappoint me???

  5. Sumalya Pal on August 15th, 2008 4:33 pm 5

    @ NITIN GUPTA

Dude seriously if you ain’t from IIT and a topper in IIT and a real GEEK and an absolute egghead then u can forget about the first one..for Strandford, UC Berkley u need to have realllly good research projects and for all the universities on which u wanted info , u need to have atleast 1550 + marks in GRE.. except for GATECH and PURDUE ..where they does take students with 1400 + score but again u need to have very very good research projects and awsome recos.

  6. Sumalya Pal on August 15th, 2008 4:36 pm 6

    @ NAVISH

Dude chillax..no probs..the us unis put more stress on the quants than on verbal. choose unis correctly, u can even get admission with scholarship if u apply to the correct unis.

    all the best.

    Hello Sir,
I plan to apply for a Ph.d course in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology in some good university. Can you tell me which universities are good and what is the minimum score on GRE to expect a positive response from them…?

  8. Raghuram on August 18th, 2008 8:42 pm 8

@Sangeeta: Its a very broad question answer what is the GRE required for admission. any score above 1200 for PhD in bio fields are good. If you need admission with scholarship, you will need to score more and again, depending on profile of university, you can get admit for score of 1100 too. But for PhD, you will have to go to good school.

Hi Raghuram. I wanted to seek your know-how about the kind of job, primarily in terms of salary, after doing CEPM(construction engg and planning management), let’s say from stanford, or for the matter of fact from any other comparable university. Also what’s your view if you were to suggest some one among doing MS in petroleum engg. and MS in CEPM? Kindly give relevant reasons as well.
