Q&A : How long is Bank Statement and Affidavit of Support Vaild?

in F1 Visa

Varus Asks

Last month, I applied for F-1 visa for US. Unfortunately, I got rejected. I have decided to reapply. My relatives had sponsored me. I plan to apply after 5 months. I have a query that “Will I have to make the support affidavit again with new date?”
For how long the affadavit for US embassy can be valid. No information has changed, everything is same. Same college, same country and same amount of money.

Your websites have helped me a lot, you are really doing a humanitarian job. People waste a lot of money to agents. But I just followed the guidelines on your website.
Though I was rejected the visa but it was just because of a foolish mistake. Anyhow, please reply to my query.

Thanks for your encouraging comments. I try to help as many students as possible.

F1 Visa Rejected

I’m sorry to hear that your F1 Visa is rejected. But, one of my friend got his visa stamped during the third attempt. He got rejected twice. So, don’t give up hope. Also, you’d know by now, you have to really at your best when appearing for Visa interview. Your smile, voice tone, how you present yourself, confidence and much more. You didn’t say what was the foolish mistake, but good luck next time.

Validity of Bank Statement and Affidavit of Support

As far I know Bank statement and Affidavit of support is valid for 6 months from the date it was stamped or signed. I have looked at few universities web page, they will clearly say about 6 months validity. I assume same rule will apply to US Consulate too. Also, I do remember I have read about documents being valid for 6 months that will be used for US Visa stamping, but I cant say for sure. Read the Guide to apply for US Visa document from vfs.

A credential is an attestation of qualification, the academic world makes very extensive use of credentials, such as diplomas, certificates, and degrees, in order to attest to the completion of specific training or education programs by students, and to attest to their successful completion of tests and exams.

Documentation of academic credentials usually consists of a printed, formal document designed to last a lifetime without deterioration. The issuing institution often maintains a record of the credential as well. Academic credentials are normally valid for the lifetime of the person to whom they are issued.

Dear friend Anusha,
I have read about credits on a US university website.
Credentials are the credits. When Indian education is evaluated by the US university, they will give you credits. US education is credit based US Students earn credits, which decides their eligibility.
When US university will compare your education with theirs, first they will evaluate credits according to their standards.
The evaluation of your degree or certificate will decide your credits. The credits will decide your course cirriculum.
Conditional admission means that you will have to attend some extra classes other than your course, in order to meet their eligiblity standard.

@ Varun

Credentials are the credits – Wrong.
When Indian education is evaluated by the US university, they will give you credits. US education is credit based US Students earn credits, which decides their eligibility. – Misleading, correct to some extent
When US university will compare your education with theirs, first they will evaluate credits according to their standards. – Correct
The evaluation of your degree or certificate will decide your credits. The credits will decide your course cirriculum – Nope not at all
Conditional admission means that you will have to attend some extra classes other than your course, in order to meet their eligiblity standard. – Right, but there is more to it

RAGHU sir thanks for replying. I appreciate and wonder that your helping attitude and efforts of regular updating saves alot of money of so many people………… its beyond imagination and amazing that in India your site provides how many people.
Its the power or IT. I want to make readers know that in Punjab the agents charge upto Rs.40,000 (exclusive of any document prepration) just for guiding- how to apply. Beside people of rural areas even educated persons pay them. Like these people I was also going to pay money to agent..But luckily while checking emails, I read about you.
I was just near my visa but the foolish mistake I made was that they asked me that “Why I have choosen to study abroad and why not in India?” I was nervous already and my communication skills went down. Anyhow, now I have made everything prepared.
To the other readers I want to say that English should be very fine, because their accent is sometimes very fast. Secondly, I realized that its very necessary to daisfy them “verbally”.
I thought that my documents are fine and genuine and I will get no problem, but I was wrong. They did’nt even look at my docs.
Finally, I will say that US visa is the easiest process provided that the applicant tackels the situation efficiently.

@anusha – Having 5 points less will be compensated by other credentials or you might get conditional admission. You will need to take some english classes after you come here.
