Couple of students have asked the same question in last week regarding multiple sponsors to get I-20.
Sumit Asks
Hello Sir, it’s a great work you are doing. I have one Query, I have applied for MS-Electrical Fall 2009. I got an admit from Upenn with no aid. There I20 amount is $54,000.
I have already sent them my financial letter worth $46,000( 2 Sponsors, 1 is my mother showing $16000 and other is my uncle showing $30,000)
Now as I need to show more, I have my brother’s account in which there is $10,000. So, can I show 3 sponsors?
Also, as we had to pay some installments, some of cash from my mother’s account was withdrawn, but in April, we would be able to return it back to the account. So, would it cause any problem.
Also, in April I would be able to deposit large amount of money in my parents account, So would it be advisable if we deposit money in April?, as I am planning to take my Visa interview in June. How much months before we can show big transaction, on which visa interview wouldn’t question?
One more thing, how many sponsors we can have? and If i can show my brother, mother and uncle for sponsorship? Would that be advisable.
More than one Sponsor for US Education?
You have already sent financial statement from your mother and uncle. So, sending one more is same as sending 2 right? Usually universities consider that as family sponsoring your education. If you have sent just one from your mother you will get I-20 saying Mother as sponsor, but in this case it will be Family sponsor or relatives sponsor. But, that can vary too. More information can be read at Can I borrow Money from Relatives for US Student Visa?
Generally for Universities they need bank statement to make sure you have enough money to fund the education in US. It doesn’t matter who has that money. If you can get that Financial affidavit from one or multiple person, it should be fine.
Universities Verify the Bank Balance?
I don’t think universities verify bank balance after submitting them. So, you should be fine. There are many article written in HSB about bank statement and sponsors. Make sure you read all the articles about under Bank Statement for I-20 Category. There are few sample F1 Student Visa documents that you can use for reference.
Large Deposit Just Before Student Visa?
You can look at this situation in 2 ways. Its already March, so there is nothing you can do now to show that you have deposited much earlier. But, for Visa you got to have the money in the bank. So, you are left with no choice to deposit the money now or in April.
If Visa Officer asks for the source of money and verifies the bank statement, you must have valid answer to say the source of the money – Where did you get large amount in one day and so on. You can read the separate article that explain in more details about large bank deposit before US visa interview.

Hi,
Its really a tricky situation for any student who is willing to study in US. Showing Bank statement and trying to get money into the bank account during application process really takes a lot.
I have a question on finananial statements that we send during the application process.
Can we show the provident fund money of our parents while applying for universities? Do they consider it to be a genunine document.
Please reply.
Thanks
Ajay
Usually the financial documents or the affidavit formrequires us to fill information for the available finances for 2 yrs ( first yr and then secon yr)in case of a M.S. program. If the total expenses for one year are say,$25,000 and I have total funds available $29,000 ; what should i write in the available funds for first yr and what in second yr.
thanks & regards,
Anupam
