By HSB

Breaking News – New H1B Visa Bill is passed. Some companies cannot hire H1B Visa workers for next 2 years.

Students in F-1 Visa who are planning to graduate this year are still trying to figure out when is the right time to graduate. Even some students are planning to apply for H1B Visa on April 1 2008 for 2008 – 2009 H1B Visa Quota, even before they graduate. Here’s the top 5 companies that hold H1B visa fro the year 2006 ( as per Business Week )

Infosys Technologies 4,908
Wipro 4,002
Microsoft 3,117
TCS 3,046
Satyam Computer 2,880

As, you can see Microsoft has 3,117 H1B Visa holders working for them and they certainly would need similar or even more number of H1B Visas for 2008 – 2009. Even, I read about Microsoft planning to move some of its positions to Canada which is about 2 hours drive from Seattle.

In 2005, Bill Gates had requested Congress to Scrap the H1B visa restrictions.

Last month, Gates called the H-1B program “a disaster,” in response to a question about immigration during a talk he gave at the University of Waterloo in Ontario. “If I could just change one law in the U.S., it would be this,” Gates said. He’s appearing before congress this year on March 12th and its certain that he will either propose to increase number of H1B visa, but since its only 3 weeks before USCIS will start accepting H1B visa applications, the impact of his meeting will be in question….click here to continue reading

You must be well aware of the Lottery System was used to issue H1B Visa last year and even this year they are expecting more number of Applicants on the first day of Application Submission On April 1 2008.

This is an interesting story. I read about the same issue here – http://www.techbanyan.com and started searching for other blogs which had a similar immigration related story. Views nicely put!
