Raghuram Sukumar —  July 26, 2012 — 89 Comments

Have you ever considered Blogging as a career in India or in your home country?

I have never come across anyone with so far, who wants to become a problogger.

There are few full-time bloggers in India.

blogging as career india

Potential to make money by blogging is huge. Really huge. But, not many folks are aware of this career path.

If you haven’t explored  Blogging as your career, you should seriously consider becoming a professional blogger (ProBlogger).

Your parents might not agree to it initially. But, if you can show them that you can make money online, they should definitely support you.

Traditional Career Path

Typically three options exist for new graduates

  1. Full time job
  2. Higher Education
  3. Family Business

But, there is this 4th option – Self-Employment, Entrepreneurship.

We don’t see many new graduates talk about Entrepreneurship and Starting new company.

Making money online will fall under 4th option.

Parents Involvement

In India parent splay a huge role in deciding their kids future career.

When they are on lookout for Engineering colleges, most of them look for on-campus placement rates.

Why?

They are thinking in terms of getting a full-time job after completing the degree.

They feel proud when their son or daughter get a job through campus placement.

Blogging As a Career in India

Did you know, serious money can be made from blogging?

As an entry-level software engineer in India, you might earn an average of Rs25,000 per month right?

What if you can can earn more than that from blogging?

Example – Advertisement Cost in HSB

Four 125×125 ads that you see on right side on the sidebar here in HSB.

  • Cost Per 125×125 = $150
  • Cost for 4 Slots = $600

Compare that to your Entry Level Salary for a Software Engineer.

  • $600 = About Rs33,000
  • Entry Level S/W Salary = $500 = Rs25,000

What if you can show your family that you can earn more money from blogging?

Wouldn’t they encourage and support you for making money online in India via blogging?

Question to You

I want to leave this discussion open-ended.

I would like to know your comments and thoughts about blogging as your career in India.

What is preventing you from considering blogging as a career in India?

I am looking for an opportunity to establish my empire in the world of internet that enhances my career ,brings me into lime light and earns good amount of money as well.i know that creating a blog and earning through it is not a job that can happen in a day or two it takes a lot of pain.i can feel it because HSB is a live example of this.it took many years(i think) to HSB to come to this position.i am a great fan of Mark Zuckerberg not because he made some billions out of FB but because he created an unforgettable memory in the minds of young people. as of now i cannot predict the future of FB but i can say it will be remembered by especially youth who lived in the era of Facebook.i believe hard work makes a living but hard+smart work makes fortune.

  3. In blog shown, Cost Per 125×125 = $150.

Lets start blogging, but one second… who is ready spend this much money for newly created blog.

To earn real money through this, need to first create popular brand. Like, initially HSB was without any advertisement and now it is getting big money because its getting lots of hits.

We have another good example, that is Facebook. Note that there is only one Facebook.

So, to build something powerful, it takes time, effort, hard-work everything. Its not an easy task.

  4. Blogging is surely a good business but its time and patience to earn money from blogging……so i would like to suggest fellow bloggers to have some patience and keep up the hard work then only expect good results from bloggong

  5. About 4 years ago I heard about making money through blogging and other sources in internet. But, I heard different voices, like some said its good, others said have to work for many hours for less money and so on. Due to lack of awareness and information I could not do much. Thanks HSB for info and looking forward for more info on this.

I am truly inspired and ignited about taking up blogging as my career…
    HSB readers attention!!!
I am going to create a blog in competition to HSB.. I also will write about the same stuff as HSB.
Now you readers should decide whose blog is better!
    MINE or HSB’s?
HSB has really helped me take important decisions and and in acquiring the knowledge that a student should possess prior to going to USA, but…. Business is business! Let’s fight it out in the world of blogging!

    • As far blogging is concerned, there is no competition. There is my point of view and your point of view.

      • Hello Miss Sheetal,

Could you mind sharing ur blog link here we will decide are you better then HSB or not …. HSB rocks(Happy School Blog) I also have made an long article but i dont know how to share….

Agreed there’s no competition, but atleast there is something called popularity which every blogger tries to earn to their fullest extent.
