Books – How many to bring?

By HSB

More than items you want to bring, its more important to make sure you don’t bring things which are available here.Books – From my experience and what I have seen and advised others, its better not to bring all the books ( maybe none at all)

Why Bring Less Books?

Reason behind that is simple. If  you doing doing Master’s in Computer Science at University of Texas at Arlington. If you happen to look into course offerings and major, you can see 30- 40 courses being offered in single semester. You will have 2 Core courses and rest being your specialization and width requirements. Which means, you are 100% sure to take the core course ( Advanced Algorithms, Operating Systems 2 or maybe Computer Architecture).

So, its really no use in looking for books list from seniors and wasting valuable weight in bringing books.

Also, for the core course there will be lot of books lying around at seniors place. All you need to do is ask for it. So, I would suggest not to waste your weight in carrying books.

So, how many books to bring? You know the answer!!

Here’s exclusive  list of things to carry to U.S. for students travel.

I agree ganesh, but considering 23 kgs per suitcase and carying 3-4 books will not be og good help. It will be much more use to them to carry other stuffs than few books, tht they are not sure of, if they will be using it. Is someone from each univ can say, 2-3 core books they can get it. But if its core, seniors should definitely have it.

I think everyone should go to the corresponding University Bookstore website – this will help them identify the courses and corresponding books.
