in College Admission

Spring 2008 dates are rolling down fast and there are many students still waiting to hear from the universities about their graduate schools application status. If online admission status doesn’t give much information or doesn’t show updated information, this article lists few other ways that will help to find the admission status. Students who already have one or more universities admission have no worries, unless their dream college admission status is on hold.

If you haven’t got any graduate school admission and if your online application status still says “under process” or “under review” I know how it will feel, when your friends are preparing for Visa interview. But, you have come to the right place. Following are the different possible ways to find the college admission application status

1) Online Application Status

2) Email to Graduate School

3) Email to Department

4) Phone call to Graduate School

5) Status through your friends

1)Online Application Status

Not majority of the schools update the online application status regularly. Department could have give admission, but graduate school will take time to update the status online. If you are running out of time go to next step.

2) Email to Graduate School

This sometime work, if the person responsible to reply to email sent to graduate school is keeping up with all emails received. Graduate School will receive lots of email. So, this might help you, if not go to next step.

3)Email to Department

I have written about contacting professors during college graduate school admission process. If any of the professors have replied to you, then its good to email them again, asking for admission status. If that particular professors like you, he should get the admission status pretty soon.

If not professors, find the administrative assistant email id for the department and send them email asking for graduate school admission status. If that doesn’t help, then next step is the fastest way to find the graduate school admission status.

4)Phone call to Graduate School

Call the Graduate School during working hours. Have your graduate school application number or student id which should be assigned to you after application is submitted with you when calling graduate school. If you don’t have student id, then they will ask to verify your last name, birth date, address. They should tell your admission status. This is the fastest and most effective way to find the admission status.

5)Status through your friends

If you have friends studying in university you have applied, you can give me permission to find the status on your behalf. They can walk in person to graduate school and find the status for you. Also, if you running out of time, Graduate School can give the I-20 to your friend and they can send it through fast courier service. Since, graduate school will send it via normal mail and it will take 2-3 weeks to reach India.

Hi..I am applying for a PhD program in genetics for the Fall of 2010 andhave already submitted the online application and sent my documents for the same.I was told that one should mail the professors and talk to them…so that later I could work with these professors. The thing is…I am unsure of what I should write to them. I have already sent them mails regarding their research work..but they don’t seem to respond..please advice.
