Salary after M.S.

every student will have big dreams of making big greens after studying in U.S. So, to answer the question, how much do the software companies actually pay. I’m assuming that you are an entry level student with Bachelors and Masters degree with no work experience. Salary range varies from $45,000 to $80,000 per year.

Why is range more?

In U.S. salary depends on many factors like location ( state, city ), company size, candidates level of expertise, job market, to name a few. Some one who is getting paid $50,000 in Texas for Software Engineer, or Electrical Engineer will get around $58,000 in North Carolina and $70,00 in New York.

Reason being, in big cities cost of living is more. You will have to pay more every day to day life activities. Your travel cost will be more, Car fuel will be more, you will pay more income tax and so on.

How much Google and Fackbook Pays:

I was surprised to see Google pay $95,000 per year and Facebook pays $92,000 per year. But, how many they hire is very small number when compared to the number of resume they receive.

 How much can you save?

If you are single, sharing a room with one another friend, and if you make $4000 per month, then you can save $800 to $1500 per month depending of your way of life. 2 bed/2 bath apartment rent varies from $600 to $1500 per month. That’s where your chunk of money will go to. Then your food, car monthly payment and so on.
