I had my visa interview on 16 th july at new delhi consulate.

I am applying for master in information technology at University of North Carolina Charlotte.

This is my second attempt for the visa.

After my visa they gave me 221(g) yellow slip and asked me to submit the sevis transfer notification.

I submitted that along with my passport and I-20 on 30 of july.

Today I get the passport without my visa with a 214(b) letter.

I am feeling completely dejected now. I don’t know what to do. My orientation will be on 18 of Aug.

About 221(g) – Administrative Processing

From US Embassy in Iraq about 221(g).

Will you still issue my visa?

We end up issuing almost all cases that we refuse under Section 221(g).  As soon as we determine that you are qualified, we will “overcome” the refusal under Section 221(g) and issue the visa.

If you will issue anyway, why do you refuse in the first place?

The law requires us to adjudicate (issue or refuse) every case on the day of the application.  Since we usually are not yet prepared to issue, we must first refuse.

We will not overcome every single person’s 221(g) refusal.  For example, if we ask you to provide a birth certificate or additional proof of your relationship, and you do not give it to us within one year, your case will remain in refused status.  Finally, if we discover that you are not eligible for the visa for some other reason, we will also refuse you under the new, appropriate section of the law.

  5. Feel sorry about it Ankur. Well I want to tell you that have you checked that is there any date before 18 aug. and when is your joining that is commencement of program as on given your I-20. If it is like that then you can reapply- this one is the first option. Next option is if date is after 18 Aug. for visa interview then mail the international admission office of the university for the extension in your joining date and telling them the reason behind it also make a call to the university. If not then you can defer your admission for fall 2013. just make it quick.

    Regards
    Prateek

  6. I have certain question to clear
I had given visa interview with my first attempt in Mumbai on 28 June 2012, i got rejected
then i had again given in kolkata on 16 July and again i got rejected with my second attempt. If i appear for third which i m planing for, in next fall , as i deferred my admission to fall 2013, So how much chances are their of getting me visa , or should i apply for visa with another university , or should i have not to give third attempt.

It is very unfortunate that you are using such language to talk about USA.. in a blog that devotes most of its content to getting to the US. Please remember that people in the US are very particular about safety measures and about following the correct protocol. This is one of the reasons why so many students even want to go to the US in the first place.
Many times, we don’t understand the reason for a refusal. It is the duty of the Visa officers to keep their countries borders secure.
Having been here for a year, I admire their meticulous work culture.
A good applicant will definitely get their VISA.. if not the first time.. then within the next few times.

      yaaa M Sen ..
what are u telling is true but its not completely true because there should be some criteria to reject or approval of visa…..in most of cases they are rejecting visa or going to bother applicant for second or third time…………..by the way i used some rude language for USA because Ankur is my close college friend so I could not stop my emotions…really concerned……….by the way I appolize for this………..dont worry …….just chill………!!!!!!
