Received following F1 Visa interview experience from a reader.
My visa interview was at 2 August.
VO said that you will get your F1 visa within 1 week .
Today I have received my passport without visa on it and a form saying 214(b) reject.
It is really horrible.
Please help me out what i should do now.

I have a diplma in accounting and my high scool transript both of which i used in securing admission in saint francis university.but the problem now is i enrolled for computer science and i was given admission.due to a cronic illness i could not meet up to go for the fall admission.i have now defer my admission till spring2013.the two things getting me scared now is that i have not gotten a reply from the university and secondly am afraid th VO will think i wont be able to cope with computer science since am a commercial student.please i need advice

This is not for laugh. I had my interview yesterday and failed woefully!!
I was saying answers that I had previously not even thought of, it was insane. I kept telling myself…”what are you doing” “don’t destroy my interview” even in the middle of the interview. I had no control of what was coming out of my mouth. I even mentioned the weather in the course of answering one of the questions. Gosh! I can’t believe what happened and who knows what the VO had to type about me. I let myself down, honestly, as the questions were sooo easy. In fact they were the very things I was expecting. I’m so disappointed at myself.

I am not familiar with F-1 visa procedures, but, if your visa application is rejected, don’t they have to tell you why? If the rejection results from the Consulate’s reservations about a particular college or university, why are those institutions allowed to issue I-20′s at all? Isn’t there a redressal mechanism or an appeals procedure. I hope you find out why your application was rejected and if you think that the reason they give is invalid, find out how to appeal the decision.
Many of these rejections seem whimsical. But, it is very difficult to get through to officialdom. As others have suggested (and some of them have successfully challenged the initial decision) here, do ask for a reconsideration and reversal. Good Luck.

VO can refuse your visa even after verbal assurance. He will be satisfied with your interview & presentation but he might have some doubt about you college or University or course, so he can ask to wait for a week. After verification from his side, he can refuse visa and there is no other alternative. You cant challenge his decision.
This is happened but in most of the cases (even after 1-2 months), student get visa.

This is crazy, i will advice you email the embassy or better still call them. This should never happen, I am sure there is a mix up somewhere and it should be clarified. A similar incident happened to a member of my family and it was resolved. pls contact them.
could this be possible?. After my VI VO said I am approving ur visa will get in 7 days. but yet to get my Passprt. Now i am also afraid.
