Do I Need Student Visa Stamping Again?

January 16, 2008 by Raghuram

Question

I have got I20 and visa for University of Colorado at Denver for Spring 2008(without any aid) , but because of some financial issues I could not go for the course. Now iam in dilema that whether I should defer my admission in the same university to fall 2008 or try some other university and get financial assistance.

Is there any possibility that I can do this without having to go for visa interview again ?

Answer

Can I defer the admission?

Yes, you should defer your admission for Fall 2008. In general U.S. Universities allow admission deferral upto 1 year. So, you don’t need to reapply again. All you would need is new I-20.

Can I apply to different university?

Yes, you could. you haven’t mentioned your profile. So, getting admission with aid, depends on your profile and majority of the students even with good profile don’t get aid with admission. They will have to come to U.S. University and find the aid. But I do know most of them get some form of aid or part time job to support their studies.

Can I avoid Visa Interview again?

I’m sure you will have to appear for the Visa interview, if you decide to go to different university. But, send email to International school advisor at University of Colorado at Denver and find out if you would need to re-appear for visa if you defer the admission.
