Almost for every email/comment we respond and highlight the mistakes students make in their email and comments. After reading the following email, it would be nice idea to highlight some of the mistakes you should avoid.
hello sir, thank u very much for the message………..it is really helpful for me………i am pursuing my engg in ECE…..i am in my third year……….i have planned to do my MS after my engg….. in 10th i got 84%,in 12th 86%.my two years of engg has a aggregate of 79%….i think of going to GRE coaching classes now… iam undergoing online tests in verbal daily…………..is it the right time to go now or after 6 months………please guide me……….
Mistakes in the Email
If you are expecting a response to any questions you are asking someone, your email should look professional and error free ( Typos and Grammar) to most extent. One of two mistakes is fine, but email like above is completely unacceptable.
Will you write a Resume that that looks like the above email and submit to the company? You better not, else your resume is going to trash. Same applies to email, comments in blogs.
- Sentence has to start with Capital Letter ( Hello Sir, …)
- Thank u = Thank You
- Full Stop should be just one dot, not ……… ( you are not chatting here right?)
- i am in = I’m in 3rd year
- …86%.my two = 86%. My [ There should be a single space after Full Stop]
How to Learn to Write
If you are applying to Graduate School, you should think and behave like a pro. Also, communicate in professional manner. There is something called Email Etiquette, make sure you read how an email should look like and what mistakes to avoid.
90% of the emails/comments we receive looks like above example email. If you cannot write an email without mistakes, how do you expect to score good marks in TOEFL, GRE Analytical writing section?
In order to help you learn, if we receive email that looks like this, we will reply to the question but with a note that says “Learn how to write email in Professional way”?

GRE Coaching
It’s not required to attend GRE Coaching class, if you have self-discipline to end time and prepare for GRE Exam. If you can treat GRE Exam just like your Semester Exams, you can prepare for GRE. [ How to Memorize Barrons GRE Words?]
But, if you really feel that you need motivation to study GRE and finding it hard to allocate time daily, consider attending GRE Coaching classes. Just, by attending GRE coaching class will not improve your skills, you will need to practice what you learn from the the GRE training class.

I’m in my fourth year of Engineering . I am planning to do my Ms from a good univeristy . I have already started preparing for GRE on my own . But Sir , I heard one of my Friends saying that ; joining coaching centre helped him a lot . By that he meant , even after one has completed GRE and got a good score , There are many other important things to be done like Selecting universities , Letters of recommodition and so on . And he added coaching centres guide you about all this and helps you do it . Since I am preparing on my own and plan to be in a good university , I just dont want to take any negative steps in my preparations-steps . Does Selecting Universities and wriiting letters of recommoditions be the reason for joining a coaching centre ?
