In GRE i got 1230( quants-700, verbal -530), My quants score is less than average. Will this affect my chances? Will improving it above 780, improve my chances?? I want admission in any of the top 20 univ’s for MS in CS…
GRE Score of 1230 is good to get admission to Schools that have Average GRE Scores of 1100 to 1250. If you can improve Quantitative score, its good to take GRE again. To get admission in to Top 20 schools with score 1230 is difficult. You will need GRE Test Score above 1350 with research experience and good recommendation letter [ Sample Recommendation Letter ]

Its already mid october, You can apply for Summer 2009 which starts in June 2009 or for Fall 2009 (August). I would suggest to retake GRE Exam. Verbal score ofr 270 will be difficultto get admissiion into schools and also student visa. GRE score above 1100 is good

U.S. Universities offer M.S. (Master of Science) degree, not MSc as in UK and India. Theer will be many universities that have late deadline, so you can apply for Fall 2009 after taking GRE in Jan 2009. I would say, if you too specific about Computer Security, start browsing universities that offfer computer security as major in Computer Science. You can look for Information Security also. But, for time being spend 90% of your time preparing for GRE and 10% browsing universities. To get started, you can download the e-book “Students Guide to U.S. Universities“

Hello I ve scored 1160 in GRE 640-Quant and 520-Verbal.Is it ok for applying for MS Bioinformatics?I ve done my graduation in Biotechnology and I ve got aggregate of 66.1% and doing MBA in IT which consists of programming wid a few software subjective courses and my GPA is 5.8/6.Do I need to give my GRE again or should I apply directly?Thank You.

@brij: I would suggest to retake GRE and get score above 1100 for admission into good schools.
Hi, I am a student of Electronics and communication at NIT Rourkela .I have got a GRE score of 1330(Quant-790, Verbal-540, analytical writing-3.5).
Expecting over 100 in toefl.
Have 9.0 CGPA /10 in B.TECH.
Have 2 publications in international journals and 1 in national journal on Genaomic signal processing and bioinformatics.
Have pursued a 2 months training in Bioinformatics institute of India,Noida
Want to apply for Phd. in Electrical engineering in U.S universities with emphasis in genomics signal processing,Bioelectronics or computational biology ,whatever is offered.

SCORED 143O (790 Q + 640 V) IN GRE….TOEFL 108…Very much disheartened…Want to attend the best Universrties of the world and have a good research experience (1 international conference publication).. i am all done with mediocre stuff (I renounced DCE Civil due to my love for Electronics Engineering and am currently pursuing it at Panjab University, Chandigarh). …I know my performance hasn’t been not upto the mark, rather it just doesn’t truly reflect what I am capable of (I got low GPA 64 %). ..
