There is no way I can suggest universities based on amount of information you have provided.

If you happen to read most of my comments, I usually recommend students to take GRE Exam again, if the score in less than 1000 for most of the masters program. For GRE Score 750 you will have to definitely think to taking GRE Test again. [ low gre score universities ]

Can you get Admission into Graduate School with GRE Score 1040 – Yes, you can.
Chances of getting admission with scholarship – Very hard chance. Majority of students don’t get admission with scholarship who apply to schools with GRE Score less than 1200.

You will have to get the list of Universities that are located near the place here you will stay and select graduate schools to apply. What if colleges near your place don’t accept GRE score 900, are you willing to travel or stay away from home? You have to decide on that.

All your achievements will definitely help you to get admission, but with score 1050, it will be tough chance to get admission with scholarship. Since you have 3 International Papers, Find schools and professors who are doing research similar to topic you have paper presented and apply to such schools. Alos, talk to the professors. I would double check before applying to UT Austin with your GRE Score. University of Texas at Austin is very competitive school, students with better scores will also apply.

Yes, you can appear for GRE Exam and IELTS, but can you get admission with 20 back logs, I’m not sure. Give it a try. Since you said IELTS, you can try other countries like Australia, UK, Germany for Masters degree.

I see you have good chance of getting admission, so go ahead and start selecting universities and apply. You can use the average gre scores to select univerities based on your GRE Test score.

hi…don worry mate…my frnd also had same trouble…just send them transcripts/marksheet till 5th sem…he too did the same and it dint stop him from gettin admits from suny buffalo. n stony brook…he got gre 1220….u won ve any problem if u do it that way..

Make sure you don;t have active backlogs while sending transcripts for admission.

Universities accept GRE Scores from 800+, based on your score you can apply for schools. Score above 1100 is good.
I have scored 1220 in GRE( quant :770 , verbal:450, AWA: 3). I scored 1220 with just 20-25 days of preparation.
I have done BE computer Engg. with 69.81 %.
10th- 83.71%
12th- 53.14%
Diploma in computer engg.-89.11%( state First,received medal n certificate from Institution of Engineers,India for this achievement)
I have worked for 1.9 years as a software engg. Currently involved in teaching for the past 2 months.
I am looking for MS in CS.I am in dire need of scholarship/assistantship as I would not be able to support my whole MS study expense myself.
So can u pls guide me regd. what r my chances of getting scolarship? shall I retake gre in last week of september? I dont mind in retaking GRE but the worry is i may get late for application as I have heard chances of scholarship increases if u apply as early as possible. So if I write my GRE again in september then i may get my score card by end of october and hence
whole application process will get extended to november….

you are not late .. most of the univs begin the deadline from dec 1 … Thats when the priority deadline for financial aid begins ..So if u manage to finish applyin to the univs by nov … U will very well have a chance of gettin the assistantship that you desire .

its not a high profile univ….easy to get in….and funding s also not good….
I have applied to Public Relations at University of Southern California, Maryland, Florida and Syracuse.
My scores:
GRE: 1090. Verbal: 450 Quant: 640
TOEFL IBT: 103
GPA: 3.29/4.00. GPA of last two years: 3.72
Currently enrolling at a grad program in PR, but not in the US. GPA N/A for that one.

hi duue..its too early for such questions…anyhow…gre s an evaluation test while cat is an elimination test….i think this line ll explain the iff…apart from that doing a masters in usa is very simple….apply….4 that u ll need a gre score a toefl score(min 90) ur acads….must be >3.0 in gpa..thal ll com around 60% in percent scale…n ur papers projects…if paper n projects r at intrnl level u have chances of amits in very good univs……
if only gre score can get us admission in u.s. universities or they want something else also

verbal : 480 and quant : 770 TOTAL : 1250
TOFEL : not recived yet
BTECH : 78%

I have done two projects in bioinformatics apart from the final year one.Have also attended workshops and seminars.
there has been no involvment in extra caricular activites but am wrking activly for 2 NGO’S and for an society also.
can this add a weight to my profile. also can u plzz suggest universities upto what ranking shld i aim at according to my profile.

hey nice profile….congrats….i don understand ur question…if it is that u r woried abt ur extracurricular…..look 4 univs which offer admit with less streess in rsearch….or….just built a good resume or sop and state that u r currents developing xxxx project aimed at xxxx international confeence…univ lik utah iowa look for good research…ask ppl…they ll know better…

hey ppl…I far as I know ge s not the one factor for admission.I have seen universities putting up avg gre scores.one particular university(good one)(don remember)…have posted internl students have a avg verb of 370s n quants of 710
compared to 427 & 680s of us students.I have gone through blogs and found that the universities generally forgive low verbal scores…(but keep it >300).If u have a low gre ie900-1100 and aiming for mediocre univs….don look for cutoffs…these univesities wont follow their cutoffs…make sure u qualify for admission in toefl…

I have given my GRE on 15th oct 08.Got 1220 (Quant: 750, verbal: 470).
Though my marks are not that good but as from my experience and heard from news that GRE is now tougher then past… For eg Compared to Aug 2008, oct 2008 gre papers and database is much more difficult especially in quant section and vocab words. So whether universities consider these aspects in admission process?

My work experience consists of a 6 month internship with IBM as a software engineer co-op and as a research assistant at Stanford University (current job).
My recommendation letters are coming from one of my previous professors whom I share the same research interests with, the director of the research center at Stanford University, and the VP of software engineering at another company.
What can I do to increase my chances of getting into a choice school? My GPA is low, but my GRE scores don’t seem high enough (1400+) to outweigh it.
