GRE and TOEFL Score Forwarding

September 15, 2007 by Author

During the chat session, I had many questions asked about Internet Cost, Cell phones, Graduate School search and college selections for their profile. It was interesting to talk to blog readers. One of the question I was asked frequently was about GRE and TOEFL score report forwarding to graduate school and to specific department within the grad school.

Reader Question

I’m reappearing for TOEFL on 5th of October and I’m sending my graduate school application to 8 universities by end of next week for Spring 2008. Is it fine to send TOEFL score report afterwards?

If you read the post about Graduate School and University Ranking, I was talking about how you could save money, by forwarding the scores to right school after the GRE and TOEFL exam. Majority of the students who appear for the GRE and TOEFL, at the end of exam, they randomly select some grad schools to forward the score. They are not realizing how much money they could save by doing some home work in advance

Answer

  1. When appearing for TOEFL make sure you forward the scores to 4 of 8 universities where he’s applying at the end of exam.
  2. After sending the application package to the universities, send email to graduate school and inform them you are re-appearing for TOEFL on October 5th and Scores will be sent to you after that.
  3. Usually, universities agree to that. Make sure you send the application fee and all other documents and include a check list too.
  4. If you don’t get reply to your email, call them and inform about your TOEFL score report status. By this way you can sure and re-check with them after 2-3 weeks of exam date about the arrival of score reports from ETS.
  5. Then forward for 4 universities, by using additional score reporting feature.

Hope this answers the question.

I had appeared for the GRE and TOEFL exam last year in September. I had then forwarded my scores to aboutfour Universities. I am going to be applying to them for next year’s spring admissions. Was just wondering whether those Universities will still be having my scores or will I need to send them again.

@Abhita: No need to send the scores again. Universities will have the scores.
