I had a question from a reader about GRE Exam, TOEFL exam dates and University Deadline.
Question:
I have GRE and TOEFL Exam this month end, but couple of universities I’m planning to apply have college application deadline on Dec 15, 2008. I will not get the GRE and TOEFL Score sheets by Dec 15. What should I do? Can I still apply to those schools?
Answer:
If you have all the documents ready, you can send the application. This is what you should do.
- Fill the application with your GRE Scores
- For TOEFL – Write the date when you took TOEFL exam and write awaiting scores.
- Complete all other required sections in the application
- Submit application along with application fee, so all the documents reach the university before Dec 15 deadline.
When you get the exam scores, you can then forward the scores to those universities. So, you don’t need to worry about sending the scores to the universities before deadline. Almost all the universities are flexible about that.
In any case universities will accept only the official scores and if scores reaches the school 2-4 weeks late, you should be good. So, have all the documents ready to send right after the exams. Make sure you are aware of 11 common college application mistakes which could delay your admission decision.
