What is GRE?

Prospective graduate and business school students can take GRE. test. Schools require GRE test to evaluate applicants for Graduate school admission. GRE General Test provides a common measure for comparing candidates’ qualifications.

GRE scores are used by admissions committee members in addition to applicants academic profile – undergraduate records, recommendation letters, statement of essay and other requirements.

    hello friends ..
    i completed my graduation this april …
    i got campus placement in TCS ….
    i wrote GRE once .. i got 1090
    again i m writing in june ending .. i havent written TOFEL yet ..
    in the meantime TCS gave me call letter ..

    i m in a dilemma what to do > and i had a doubt if i complete gre and tofel by july 15th will i be able to apply to good universities ?

    i m thinking whether to go to job or for US ?
    as usual i m feared of rumours .. some say jobs are not there .. do 2 years job and then go there ..
    but i had the fear that if i do 2 years job then i wont be interested in MS …

    Give me ur valuable suggestions ….

    What about the education system of Canada ? I want to know more about it. What is the quality of education there, cost, chances of scholarship and PR and how to go about applying to the various universities ?

    Sir,

    I have a query. Why do people opt for USA and not UK ? In UK, the cost is less (assuming we don't get any scholarship), the time duration is lesser for the course and we get a work permit of 2 years also. So why do people opt for USA and not UK for MS in engineering? I don't think everyone going to US gets a scholarship.

    Hello sir, i want to appear for GRE and TOEFL in the seventh sem….i.e in the end of october month. My aggregate of B.E is 64%. I wanted to ask that if i get a GRE score around 1450+ then will i get a gud university in the top 40 to 50 rank…

    Hi,

    I've booked my GRE date on 23-Nov-2009.Please help me on the following :

    1. I need to clarify on when TOEFL has to be taken?

    2. How helpful it is to join consultancy considering my GRE date is too late?

    3. Will there be any chances of getting AID or Scholorship if i'm taking GRE on 23rd NOV?

    Will be grateful if someone can help me on this.

      you can write your gre and toefl

      but pl finish this at least by dec i st week, 2009

      so that your score can reach the university in 20 days time

      that is by december end

      the proof of the pudding is in eating in it

      earlier the better

      hello Sir

      thanks for your helpful suggestion but i wanna tell you that i have comopleted my BE(computer) 2009 passout. as you said you should be ready with your GRE and TOEFL score by the end of december 2009 but now its too late i think, so if i give GRE in January 2010 then is there any possibility of getting admission in fall 2010.

    Hi. i am about to write my gre. i have a avg of 76% in my coll BTech IT. 10th- 83.4% and 12th-84.3%. I am very much interested in pursuing my MS in Information Technology or Computer Science(mainly networking and security side) in US. I need some guidance in this part. How to get aid in the coll's. how to proceed after my gre. What is necessary for my profile to be strong. do i have do any extra works like paper presentation other project works , etc. pls i need guidance in this part.     hello,

    I am a design engineer in STMicroelectronics. Passed out from NIT Allahabad with CPI 8.31 on 2006 in Electronics.got 87% in +2 and 84% in 10th.i joined job only because i was having the dream of being a part of real R&D team in semiconductor domain. but dat was an utopia . now what i want is to kick that job and enter the research world as a learner 1st and then do something great which can sate my urge. so planning to give GRE in september. now please resolve my below queries,

    1.I have no research paper and strong reco. i want to apply for MS+Phd. i am thinking to apply in some poor college 1st for integrated MS+Phd so that i complete my ms with full funding. then i want to quit from that college and apply to some top 10 univ for Phd .how much feasible and pragmatic my plan is? — i am asking as a naive

    2. Some of my friends says the complexity of GRE test varies from centre to centre . myth is that it's easiest in calcutta . how much base this canard has?

    Requesting your guidance, i hope you will help me too..

    I am very much intrested in pursing a M.S degree in Industrial/Organizational Psyscholgy in US. I am worried about my chances as i have not done any Psychology related courses which is one of the main prerequisirtes in most of the universities for an I/O program.

    I have a B.E degree in Industrial & Production Engineering (53%), and have a work exp of 2.5 years in Work Force Management. I will be giving th GRE test on May 20th 2009.

    Question-

    1) considering my low B.E %age what should be a aproximate GRE score that would help me to get an admission in a decent univ..

    2) what are the options for me to choose an university as i have not done any psychology course in my ubdergraduate studies.

    i wwant persue my masters in USA and iam going to try for jan 2010 session what is the right time to take GRE and TOEFL i took TOEFL-ibt previously and i got a score of 72 with this score can i apply for the universities? will i get a good college? iam going to take my GREon june please advice me to proceed further

    @Subhash – TO find specific college/major it will take time and effort. do google search for those key words, you can get to know some universities. That's the easy way, but get the list, you will have to look into each college to find out.

    Hey can you please help me..

    I have a gre score of 1180 (Q:670 & V: 510) and toefl score is 104. My Btech GPA is 7.7 on scale of 10 and am planning to go for MS biotech. Can i get into a good college in US?

    or i need to retake gre??
