- Consulate: Hyderabad
- Date: 9th Jul 2012
- Time: 8:45 AM
- Counter: 14
- Course: MSEE
- Verdict: Approved!!!!!
I reached consulate by 8:10, couldn’t find parking anywhere, had to shell out Rs 50 for parking in a nearby lane.
It was 0830 when i entered after a checking of appointment letter(Indian guards). had security checks done(Indian guards).
Walked a 100mt long walk way. A security officer(Indian) checked ds160, told me to go to counter 4.
Went there a lady(Indian) in 20s checked photo, ds forms, i20, appointment letter and stapled them.
She asked me to go to counter 9.
Proceeded further in the hall and joined a queue for that counter, queue had around 20 ppl.
Slowly moved along in the queue, then it was my turn had a guy aged around 25 (American) sitting inside.
Outside the counter there was a person (Indian) helping us take fingerprint scans. Just scans here no interaction here. was then told to proceed to waiting area.
A guy around 25 (Indian) gave a printed slip showing token no E28 and stapled it to my docs.
There are restrooms, refreshments, and lots of chairs here.
There were other ppl waiting here. By observing I concluded student visa candidates are given E series tokens.
There were other ppl old ppl, middle aged, some had A series tokens, some H series.
There were 2 LEd displays showing token nos and counter nos which we had to go..kinda like the displays in a railway stn.
There were only 2 counters calling E series – counter nos 13 and 14.
Was hoping i wouldn’t get the notorious gundu boss of hyd consulate.
My turn came
..counter 14
saw a VO lady (American) aged 25-30something.. there was already a guy before her halfway through his interview…and i must say he really sucked..i don’t know if he did not prepare or was nervous or whatever but there were lotsa gaps and stutterind when he spoke
his interview- parts of what i heard:
Vo: what is ur percentage?
guy: 65% madamVo: d u hav backlogs
guy : 4 mamVo: whats ur gre score?
guy: ten- ten mam /* he meant 1010 */Vo: whats ur verbal score?
guy: 270 mamVo : when did u grad. ?
guy: twenty twelve mam /*2012*/
/*the way he was saying those nos with his nasal tone really irked me, can only imagine about the Vo- her face expression was like- ur screwed*/Vo: why do you want to MS?
guy: it will..increase… my value..in my home place /*written as said -with broken speech */Vo: I cannot give you Visa sir. /* returned passport*/
The will of Gods must have been with me that day. I realized what an incredible opportunity I got here. Even if I performed averagely I would shine in a marvelously bright light before this guy.
Had a spl Ganesh pooja at the insistence of my dad that day morning– I wont argue with u anymore dad
/*my VI follows*/
Vo: next
me: good morning to you mam /*with a pleasant expression and eye contact; passed passport and docs*/Vo: Which univ are u going? /*typing*/
me: University of Oklahoma at Norman /* been a long time since i spoke to my profs..kept forgetting to address her ‘mam’*/Vo: Which unis did u apply to?
me: I applied to University of southern california, uiversity of florida, university of colorado, Clemson university, texas tech university…/*Vo interrupts*/Vo: What about university of colorado?
me? I did not receive admission that univ mam. I applied to 10 universities and have admits from 3 universities. I have admits in Rochester insti. of tech., Polytech…/*Vo interrupts*/Vo: What is ur percentage?
me: I have an overall GPA of 7.28 with 4 backlogs which I cleared in the next term. I have a final yr GPA of 8.3Vo: What is ur GRE score?
me: My GRE score is 1380 with 800 in quantitative and 580 in verbal sections.Vo: What is your toefl score?
me: my toefl score is 103 mamVo: How are u financing your education?
me: my parents are sponsoring all the costs for my education. My father is a civil surgeon. we have a total savings of 64L of which 20L…/*Vo interrupts*/Vo: thank you sir you will receive Visa in 5days.
me: /*took 10 secs..just staring */ thank you mam.
Walked all the way back smiling.
Crazy credits: me attending flood of calls-texts from friends, uncles, relatives, neighbor

hi, i have been a sodlier and quit my job to study in the usa. i have received an i 20 for fall 2012 and tending to book my interview early august. what do i need in order to be issued with a visa?
alex
lovely!!
shanti..@ hahahha..:D Better luck nxt tym!!
This is a normal interview. My first interview was so lame that I mis spelled my parents name. It was tupid of me. Second time, I was all set prepared. I went there but they didn’t ask me much excpet where else I have applied blah blah and told me to submit the passport. @ Shanti don’t worry try it again and this time be confident and have reasonable reasons just like what HSB always says.

Btw what do you mean by Gundu boss ?
That notorious gundu boss/ (cue ball + french cut) in counter 13, has rejected visa(F1) for 4 applicants standing in front of me. I was able to leave the consulate with a 221g. I nearly had my heart in my mouth.
