If you need Inspiration, Follow Lance Armstrong in Tour De France

Many of you reading this will never have heard about Lance Armstrong. If you are looking for inspiration, follow his and Tour De France. Here is a short intro about Lance Armstrong

  • Armstrong was born in Plano, Texas, on September 18, 1971. He began as a triathlete, winning adult competitions from the age of 13.
  • Representing the U.S., he finished 12th in the road race at the 1996 Olympic Games.
  • On October 2, 1996, at age 25, Armstrong was diagnosed with testicular cancer. The cancer had spread to his lungs, abdomen and brain.
  • After his surgery his doctor admitted that he had had less than a 50% survival chance.
  • Armstrong dropped out of the 1996 Tour on the 7th stage after becoming ill, a few months before his diagnosis.
  • Armstrong’s cycling comeback began in 1998
  • He won Tour De France from 1999 to 2005
  • Retired from Professional Cycling in 2005
  • Announced coming back from Retirement to win 8th Tour De France that started on July 4, 2009
  • He’s currently tied for Second Place with Fraction of seconds difference after 4 stages ( 17 more stages to go)

Tour De France

The race usually lasts 23 days and attracts cyclists from around the world.  You will get so much inspiration, if you read his book It’s Not About the Bike. You can find about his entire life and love for cycling.

Amount of training that he does to prepare himself for the Tour De France is Amazing. If you think, you can work hard, then read the book and you will get a new meaning for Hard Work.
