Is GRE Exam in February lot difficult than October?

I need to know whether the GRE exam offered in February is a lot difficult than the GRE exams offered in October & November.

I’m hoping to apply for 2013 fall, and I thought taking the GRE in February would give me the opportunity to send my applications early before the 2012 December deadlines for 2013.

However several friends have told me doing GRE on February will be a disaster because it will be very difficult and people who they know, who took GRE on February all got very low scores.
But I’ve already registered for 2012 February GRE and I’m currently preparing myself.

Is it only a rumor or is there any truth as to what they say about Feb GRE being lot difficult compared to other exams?

I believe as long as I’m prepared well I’ll be able to do well, yet the above thought is nagging me.

Tougher GRE Exam

GRE Exam offered in February will be tougher if you are not well prepared.

GRE Exam offered in any month will be tough to anyone who is not well prepared.

Lets assume following scenarios

  • If your practice test scores average  – 300/340,
  • Target Revised GRE Score -  315/340
  • Actual Revised GRE Score  – 300/340

If your target score expectation is more than your skill level, then you will consider GRE to be tougher irrespective of month you take GRE.

    Hi All,

    I had always heard rumors like this when I wanted to write GRE. Believe me, ignore those rumors. ETS has a software to through a question to you from pool of question. How it could be erratic?
    I had decided to give GRE in December 2010 & some of the closest persons adviced me not to take in december just because they had got low scores in those months. I tok the test in december itself & ended up scoring 1450+ score. So just ignore those useless rumors & focus on your study.

    I would like to know which one would be the best time to give the GRE exam? coz I also have heard certain things as in if we give the GRE exam in the october and november time and get good scores then the admission might be easier than if we get the same in the month of february. Would like to get confirmed if it is true or not? plz help

      friend , stop looking for such foolish rumors. just concentrate on your preparation. Admission depends on your intelligence, SOP,LOR and on university, not on the month in which you are going to give gre.

    One word: NO. Whenever you take the test, questions will be almost random and you’ll encounter some difficult and some easy questions.
