Well, I didn’t have any kind of tension for first job interview I had to attend the internship interview in school. I was packing for my vacation/trip to India and had the interview call. If I was given chance for next round of interview, I was planning to cancel my trip and head to California for the interview.

Previous article about 19 Job Interview do’s and don’ts, I had discussed about after job interview techniques and tips to help you get the job. But, to get to that point where you will be considered for the position among other candidates employer will interview, you need to make a goof impression during the interview by answering the interview questions right. Well, you don’t need to get 100% with all interview questions.

I plan to write series of articles on job interview questions, how to answer them, how not to answer certain types of interview questions, how to present yourself, example of bad job interview, and my personal job search and interview experience.

Job Interview Tips - Do

First impression is the best impression. Manager should get the feel within and should have good fell about your candidacy if you were to be considered for the position. You might have talent, but if they don’t get that vibe and good feel about you, then you will not stand a chance to get the job.

Firm Hand Shake

To make that good first impression, firm hand shake counts. One firm hand shake shows your interest, eagerness, enthusiasm and energy. Try with your friends, with firm hand shake and not so firm, then you will know the difference.

Eye Contact

Make eye contact and smile. When I say eye contact, you should feel that deep passion in you when you look into the interviewers eye. Eyes should show interest. When making eye contact, make sure you feel within that looking deep into person’s eye will create good first impression during job interview.

To make good eye contact, you need to have practices hypnosis, but good focused eye contact is always good.

Eye Contact - Job Related Questions

Having eye contact doesnt mean you should not blink at all. Its staying focused and especially don’t look away during tough interview questions and while answering.

Not sure what the answer is?

I have seen and have also tend to move my eyes towards ceiling wall or left side when you tend to think. Try to avoid looking away from the person during job interview. You would need practice to do that. All of sudden you cannot think looking at others person eyes.

Good Impression Lasts ( Longer )

If you happen to do maintain eye contact with firm hand shake throughout the interview, that’s the first step toward getting that job you have always wanted? Have you heard the story about a person pouring coffee on interviewer during job interview at Microsoft? Guess what could have happened?

Stay tuned for more updates on Job Interview techniques and questions. I plan to answer job interview questions like,

  • Tell me about yourself?
  • What is your greatest weakness?
  • List your strengths
  • What is the most difficult situation you have ever faced?
