71,400 Jobs Lost on Monday; 207,120 Jobs in Jan 2009

Today total of 71,400 jobs was lost due to recession in U.S. Most of the companies are reporting loss in profits, revenue and expecting to take huge loss this year.  Here’s list of few companies and number of jobs lost in Jan 2009

  • Circuit City – 30,000
  • Pfizer – 26,000
  • Caterpillar – 20,000
  • Alcoa – 13,500
  • ING – 7,000
  • Intel – 6,000
  • Ericcson – 5,000
  • Microsoft – 5,000
  • Motorola – 4,000
  • Texas Instruments – 3,400
  • Honda – 3,100
  • Logitech – 500
  • Google – 100
  • World Wrestling Entert – 60

Total of 207,120 jobs were lost in 26 days of January and more os expected to come.  I have listed only few companies from the long list of companies that are layin goff people.

When will Job Market Bounce Back?

Economists are predicting recession will end after second quarter of 2009 ( June 2009 ) and job market is expected to increase after that. Lets hope the market bounce back, so it will not affect the life of so many people.
