Can any one tell me the deadline for this program ,please
and if I can submit my Toefl score after the deadline date

    • Try to stick with the deadlines. If there is a delay, seek permission from the University official incharge of the admissions process. You may need to seek permission from both the graduate school as well as the department. If allowed you can submit the scores a little late. You can check the deadlines on the department website.

  2. dude, two of my batchmates with really good TOEFL scores (110+) and gpa of 8.5+ got rejections for this program! i do not think any one and everyone gets admitted!

    • Admissions are tough into JHU and Universities of similar repute. Other than that Biological sciences programs demand a good research exposure or at least your research interests should coincide with those of the faculty members at the concerned department. This really helps to a good extent in admissions. GRE scores although not required in specific, good scores always leave a mark on the admissions committee.
There is nothing impossible. One should try his/her level best for best outcomes form the admissions process.

  3. These are the FACTS

    1) Each course is worth 4 credit points in the MS Biotechnology program
    2) The program can be completed full time with in 1 and half year (without thesis) and 2 years (with thesis / practicum)
    3) The teaching faculty comprises of professionals working with pharma/biotech companies; US FDA; eminent patent attorneys; other scientists etc.
    4) Studying at Hopkins opens up avenues for you to work part time at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute (one of the best in the world for medical sciences)
    5) Enterprise students have opportunities to work with Johns Hopkins Technology Transfer part time and as interns to learn product commercialization.
    6) Students have good chances of getting hired full time at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute after their course.

  4. @dinesh
    Exactly
A part time for citizens does imply its not a very good course ( I am not saying its bad) and I have currently 8 friends doing it over there. I would still advice you to go for Arkansas and not even georgetown.

  5. @Kunal
you may be true that it doesnot require GRE but part time its not true for international students its only offered as full time course where classes have to be taken at the 2 campuses of JHU.
AAP not only offers biotechnology but also may courses like Information security … and the degree which u get is from the dept of biotechnology Zanvyl Krieger School of arts n sciences. And the students of the program says its very standard and the program is designed for working professionals so its 10 credits.
Other Universities that i got admit is Georgetown University and Arkansas State University.

  6. Hi Dinesh,
First congrats for your admit in JHU!! Its my dream univ too for MS.Biotech, I have questions, please answer them.
Can you please elaborate your application process? also can you please share which universities you applied along with JHU? Is 300 score in GRE is sufficient to get admit in JHU? What is your profile (your undergrad college name, degree, scores, any publications, subject choose @ JHU) As you said 33000$,2yrs & 10 credits, but I far as I know 33 credits are required for completions of MS degree. Please clear this doubt. Also you have enrolled for full time or part time studies? Application fee is 75$ may they have raised it now..
Please Dinesh answer all my queries as I am intending to apply this course.
Thank you for your informative post.

    • Kunal Dhume says:

There is no GRE required for especially for this course! You just have to do your evaluation done by WES and TOEFL above 100 and you are in! I would still say apply to a different university for MS in biotech since this course isn’t offered as a departmental course but AAP of JHU(part time for citizens says it all)
      :)

      • Kunal Dhume says:

and yes a gpa of 3.0 isn’t = 80%, its actually about 60 and above since gpa calculations depend on a host of factors which is best left to the pros!

  7. Kunal Dhume says:

Its very easy to get into hopkins for this program! NO GRE, TOEFL above 100 and WES and your in! Plus people think its a very big thing to get into this course which isn’t becuase it is offered as a part of advanced academic programs through JHU and not as a department. 2 years for 10 credits is something i find very strange as well!
