I saw comments asking me to write about documents required for student visa stamping. I guess many are getting ready for Spring 2009 visa stamping. I have written few articles about student visa stamping and documents required for student visa. I came across couple of questions that were interesting.
- How much bank balance for F1 Student Visa Stamping?
- F1 Student Visa Canceled
- Sample Bank Documents for Visa Stamping in U.S. Consulate
Large Bank Deposits
Can some make large deposit in final month into bank to get bank statement for Visa? For example, deposit of 2-3 Lakhs Rupees ( 1USD ~= 50 Rupees) in final month through small deposits of 40,000 – 45,000 Rs for 4-6 times would make financial document weaker?
I have seen this question asked by every student in the forums. Answer to this depends on the source of money. Before that student visa (f1) interview officer will get to that point to verify your bank statement ( or bank transactions) if they feel the need.
If the Visa officer is not satisfied with some of your answers or think they need to verify the validity of the bank statement and bank balance, they can definitely ask you to show bank transactions. If that case happens, you might be asked to give explanations for large transactions in last 1 month.
But, if that’s were your money ( or parents) then you will not have any problems to say the how the money came from. For instance, you could have sold a property ( home or land) and used that money to deposit to your account for educational expense. So, you should have the proof to back it up.
If you cannot say the source of the money, then it its upto the Visa Officer at U.S. Consulate to decide. As far I know Student Visa interview depends on case by case basis and there’s noting we can do, but prepare all the documents in right and legal way.
Timing Visa Interview – Advantages?
Hey friends, Is it ok to go to embassy on Dec 1st week for F-1 Student Visa Stamping, Is chances are good at that time?
From my understanding, you can never time your visit to U.S. consulate to get student visa stamping. If you were to applied for Fall admission, when visa dates are hard to find, then your first thought will be – somehow get Visa dates for student visa interview. But, maybe now slots might be available, you are thinking if December 1st week will be good time for Visa stamping in U.S. consulate.
I can very well say, getting student visa is depended on your skills, qualification and answers and documents you give to visa officer. Be confident, you will be able to student visa stamping. So, you can come to U.S. get high quality education and very good life style and get to live and work with friendly people.
If you have any questions, let me know. Write a comment to this article. Good luck with your visa interview guys.

my aunt was supposed 2 sponsor me and then my dad made up his mind to sponsor me. My I20 says that my aunt is my sponsor but then now its gonna be my dad. The only reason ma dad got convinced is that he didnt want me to go to USA at fist but then when i told him that i am one of the 925 selected out of the 11,000 applied, he wanted me to achieve excellent results in there bt im nt allowed to stay in there for more than 4 years as per ma dads rule. How do i convince the visa officer about this? will he be ok if i explain him the real situtation as above? should i inform the university about this? pls advice.

Hi I have the same issue.
I only have half assistantship next semester, but need to leave country in the winter. the half assistantship is only $7000, yet I-20 requires $19000. since I only have $3000 in my account, I borrowed 11000 from friends recently to deposit into bank in order to get the bank statement. I would have to return their money before the VISA interview, will this be considered as fake statement? and will the VISA officer be able to verify that?
This may determine whether I leave country or not, so I appreciate your response very much?
Thats what most students do, if they want to get new I-20. But, during Visa interview you have to show bank balance and you need to have money in the bank.
hi i just want to know that how much should i show in my bank account for a 3 year or 1year study???
Is it for Visa or for admission?
I also have the same problem,I recently have deposited large amount of money like 2 lakh,3 lakh and 9 lakh etc.total I have to show 24 lakh for a year.these amount was lended from my relatives, friends to show as a bank balance,by the time i go for interview the balance of 24 lakh would be 1/2 months old.its deposited in my fathers account(sponsor) and VO would like to see 6 months of transaction.i have 6 months of trasaction through my fathers account but latter 5 months has transaction like 8000,3000,5000 and recent is 3 lakh,4 lakh which was deposited to show balance. So if VO asks why large amount of transaction within one month?and if VO asks about the sources then what reasons should I present to them?

Am sorry to post this again, pardon me folks, since i did not get any response, posting again. Can someone pls help me out?
I have applied to universities for masters program in computer science for fall 2009. I have got admission from one of them. I need to go for the visa stamping in chennai.
I have done engineering in computer science and then mba and have worked for 2 years in india. Now i have applied for MS in computer science and got admission in a university.
-In my parents bank account, we can show liquid cash for 40 lakhs.
-In my account (since i have been working as s/w engineer for 2 years in india), i can show 5 lakhs.
These amounts are deposited in the last week. So by the time i go to the interview, it will be 1 or 2 months old.
I am not taking a bank loan since we have cash to support the fees and living expenses.
1> By the time i go to the interview, the balance of 40 lakhs in the bank would be only from the past 1-2 months. Would that be fine?
2> Can you folks please let me know if anyone of you showed anything like this, and were successful in getting the student visa?
3> Is this sufficient amount? I-20 mentions 35K per year, so its 70k, which amounts to around 35-40 lakhs for 2 years.
4> Is taking bank loan a mandatory thing?
5> Can i go to the visa appointment with these?
6> If they ask for bank statment during the VISA interview, will these sudden transaction (around a month or two old) create a problem ?
7> How many months of bank statement should i take?
8> How many months/years of bank passbook entries should i take?
9> I heard that instead of transferring funds to my account we can get sponsorship letters by keeping the funds in sponsor’s accounts. Can we really do this? If so, who can be the sponsors, other than parents? And how should the sponsorship letter look like? Any format?
10> If taking sponsor letter from people other than parents is fine, can i take that sponor letter from someone else, along with the 40 lakhs in my father’s account? What are the documents and formalities we need to do to take sponsor letters from other than parents?
Appreciate your help and response.
1> During my visa interview, will my MBA have any negative effect on getting the visa? Since i want to do MS in computer science i applied for this program. Will they ask why i want to do MS after MBA? If so, how can i convince them that this is really what i want to do?
2> How will i convince them that i will come back to india after MS?
Thanks

Hello HSB,
thanks for your post.
I have been admitted to Penn Stat Univ for a phd program with assistantship (tuition waiver and stipend) however I am nervous about the visa interview which I have on 13th May.
Do I need to still submit financial documents? Can my visa be rejected if I do not show any additional funds?
Thanks for your response
If you have tuition waiver, then Visa officer will not look for Financial statements. But, its always safe to have the bank statements with you during visa interview. Unless you do major mistake during interview process, you should be able to get Visa for PhD.
Hello Sir, it’s a great work you are doing.
I have one Query,
I have applied for MS-Electrical Fall 2009. I got an admit from Upenn with no aid. There I20 amount is $54,000.
I have already sent them my financial letter worth $46,000( 2 Sponsors, 1 is my mother showing $16000 and other is my uncle showing $30,000)
Now as I need to show more, I have my brother’s account in which there is $10,000. So, can I show 3 sponsors?
Also, as we had to pay some installments, some of cash from my mother’s account was withdrawn, but in April, we would be able to return it back to the account. So, would it cause any problem.
Also, in April I would be able to deposit large amount of money in my parents account, So would it be advisable if we deposit money in April?, as I am planning to take my Visa interview in June.
How much months before we can show big transaction, on which visa interview wouldn’t question?
One more thing, how many sponsors we can have? and If i can show my brother, mother and uncle for sponsorship?
Would that be advisable.
Please help,
I shall be very grateful to you.
Thank you ..!!
@Sumit – I have answers the question as a post. http://www.happyschoolsblog.com/bank-statement-universities-more-sponsors-i-20/
i am applying fr student visa in UK, just wonder if the bristish embassy will call the bank and will ask bout my current saving.i loaned 200tho just fr 1 month but the visa processing takes 3 months.
Hello,
I am applying for student visa for MS in US (fall 2009).
I have shown two sponsors, my brother and my cousin brother as sponsors while submitting financial documents for I20 processing to the university.
The problem is, now my cousin brother does not have teh same amount what was there before 3 months when I submitted the documents.
After this, I got a loan from a bank which would cover the entire tuiion fee amount.
I have a question now. In my visa interview can I show the loan instead of sponsor. Will this create any problem in getting the visa?
Please comments on this..
Thank you in Advance for all your help.
