Sir, I have a question, not related to college admission, but chances of finding a girl friend while studying Masters. I have 5 years work experience and going to US for Fall 2010. My parents are asking me to get married and go to US for job. Few of my friends fell in love while studying masters. I would like to know what are the chances of finding a girl friend while in Grad School?

Interesting question for sure and tough one to answer. In reality, you have better chance of finding your future wife while in studying in U.S.
You can think of many reasons for that (from a guy’s perspective)
- You get to spend time more with girls.
- When you spend more time, you are more likely to fall in love
- When far away from home you can get emotional strength when in love.
- Better chance to fall in love if you find a girl from same place/college/ back home
- Number of friends who meet their spouse while in grad school is higher than under grad school in India.
- Very likely if you have girl friend in India, she would apply to same university and live together while studying.
As you can see this post was written by someone who didn’t go through the process of falling in love and other fundas. It will be good to hear the comments from those who are in love . and prospective students who are in love and planning to study in US can gave their thoughts too. Relationships are not a one-time-effort deals. You have got to keep working on a relationship before you think of taking the BIG step. So, if you think that you are going to go there and “build” a relationship from scratch and complete your masters and do some research – think again!
Finding girls/boys might be easy but finding the right person for you is something called pure liquid gold luck!
An important part of choosing a person to spend the rest of your life with is also to find an Intellectual Match. A lot of people pursue their MS and PhD’s in India as well but for someone going abroad for their higher education and living for years with people from different cultures, some of it tends to rub off on you and you then, need someone from the same mindset to be able to have a good relationship and a future together.
Sir, i am in engineering computers and want to do masters in computer science. I want to know i am also interested in robotics and AI(Artificial Intelligence) but i am confused which to chose, does AI has lots of Maths cause i am not that good with math. So i will better select Computer science. Please help i need some guidance.
And please send me rank wise list of good university’s for masters in computer science.
I agree with you in some parts about average age in class.
However as I remembered it is average age in class, does not represent as a whole in real condition of the class.
Might be some students are freshly graduated from Bsc, and others graduated several years ago and worked for several years.
As I saw in the website, actually the average age of master degree is around 33 y.o.
Actually, for looking mates, doesn’t limit to students also.
You might look for mates from other class –> like if you go to master degree, then just look for gals from bachelor degree.
Or if u guys, like older gals, just look for them in PHD class.
Might there are some PHD students with same age with you, great isn’t it??
For gals just look for guys from PHD.
Or might be you can date your own mentors or lecturers.
Even if you want date your gardener or else, its up to you.
For me –> Nooooo
Thats why I am asking actually whats the comparison between guys and gals in USA, especially might be limited to the place where we are studying.

God all of you are shallow……
a) I was under the impression that ppl go to US n grad school with a dream of a better future and gaining knowledge …..
b) At the end its only ur career that matters…love shove is all a buncha crap…..trust me …only 1 in perhaps a 1000 girls or guys wud be with their partners if they were indigent for years in a row after going to fancy grad school…. FACT
and
c) even to ask this question…..whoever started it …man u ve gotta to be kidding me …i mean i get it….one shud have a life n all…but grow up man…if u want a girlfriend stay back in india……its a very rare event that a foreign girl / guy will marry an indian ..so if u do the probability math u’d knw u r better off in india….
I disagree … a lot of people come to study in US and after graduation they live on there without returning home … so of course one should think about “mating” too … why not starting from master’s and not exclusively after graduating the studies you were pursuing …

“What is the average age of persons attending MSc in US ?” would be a good question even outside the love and date context. If anybody has any ideea please contribute to the post / make an article. (I’m interested mainly in MSc Finance/Economics/Business.

First a good question would be: what is the average age of persons attending MSc in US ? If you go for MSc at 22 right after BSc and the average age at the MSc you are pursuing is 27 It will be harder a bit(as a guy) to find a girl from the class.

Its truly an interesting question. Again, i dont fall in the category of being in love with someone in US. For me, i am already in my last semester of my Masters in US and unfortunately(or fortunately), i did not find any girl yet.
To answer your question, It would really depend on which school you are going to, which locality you would be living in, and whats the Indian girl population in that area and obviously the BIG factor which is “Luck”.
If you are coming to a place like NJ/NY and then chances are really good for you. And i dont have much idea about other places in US. If you are really not particular about an Indian girl, then you chances would be good any where in US.
But frankly speaking, this is not something which can be answered by HSB , coz its not something about some common strategies and rules, it about something which cannot be forced on anyone. So I would say, you got to come here and try your luck,
