Low academic percentage and impact of getting admission. Santosh Asks
I have completed M.Sc (Electronics) with 57.61% (aggregate) from vidhyanagar (Gujarat), India. I want to know whether i can join MS in electronics (telecommunication) in USA or not, so that i can prepare for GRE. If yes then Please give me the information about the universities in USA, which provides these courses, and also give me the information about the minimum GRE and TOEFL scores needed for admission. Some good universities names in USA that provides aid.
Thank you…
Low Percentage
Usually many students from Mumbai, Pune University have similar situation. Reason being the university scoring policy. If you look at students applying from Tamil Nadu, top rank holders will have 90% or more. But, top rank holder in Universities in northern part of India tend to have comparatively lower percentage. Some students with 70% will be University rank holder. So, you don’t need to worry about your score.
So, 57% is not considered low. You have to compare yourself with top rank holder of your class/university and decide if its low or not. You should start preparing for GRE Exam. Having GRE Score above 1300 will help you get admission with scholarship.
Information about Universities in USA
I suggest you read all the article in this blog. You can find so much information. Over 200 articles are about admission process and university selection. For instance you can read about GRE Exam, Sample Statement of purpose, Resume writing tips, University selection and much more.

hello everyone,
i just completed my B.Tech in civil engg. from IIT Roorkee, but i have scored a CGPA of 5.813, which i know is very low. i am really very much interested in doing masters in Transportation engg. from US.
But i am in dilemma of whether or not i can get into any good universiry in US.
i also have a doubt whether or not there is any preference for completing B.tech from IIT in getting I20.
please answer my question as i am really tensed right now whether to go for job or study for GRE.also please suggest me when to take GRE exam?
dear harsha,
nice to hear that you are from the iit-r i want to suggest you to study for the GRE at least 3-4 months as you did for cracking the jee and got your self seated into coveted institution and please do not worry about doing job as you will get a good package at any point of time you like so stop worrying and start preparing for the GRE my mama has somewhat similar conditions as he had cgpa of 5.96 and that too from it-bhu but he scored near perfect score in the gre back in 1996 he got full scholarships and funding from UNIV of Toledo.
thanks for your comments vaibhav.
