  2. Hi. Congratulations! I’m gonna apply to this university. Is there any scholarship/grant available for international students?

  3. I was poor in speaking English when I came here as an international student. I realized this fact soon and I started speaking English with my local friends( no matter they used to make fun of me) but I hardly use to talk to them in my native language. It helped me a lot. Don’t be shy and don’t hide yourself in the public. Good luck a head.

  4. WTH!!!! He was in NEW YEARS mood!! Good for u! Congrats

  5. Luck plays a massive role in getting a VISA. I was going to a fairly reputed University and had decent scores and all the financial documents the VO could possibly ask for. But the moment she heard the name of the school I was heading to, she gave me a big smile and said that she was from the same state that the school was in. The rest of the interview seemed like a formality. I even offered to show her my financial documents ( into which I had put a fair load of effort), but she refused.

  6. Hello Krunal, Raghu is absolutely right. Congratulations anyway and good luck. Remember you will not be able to perform well at the university if you do not improve your English. You haven’t mentioned which campus of Cal State you have been admitted to and you haven’t given your GRE and TOEFL scores. It is possible that you are very good at engineering but your English is poor because of the schools you went to and your medium instruction was the State language. Please do some remedial English work before you go to the U.S. Several guide and preparatory books have been mentioned in these columns. I shall add two more which I have used in my classes with excellent results. 1. Basic English Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy, and 2. Advanced English Grammar by Martin Hewings. Both are published by Cambridge University Press and priced around Rs. 150/- each. They are work-books with explanations of grammar, structure, etc. on the left hand side and exercises on the right. You can easily do five to six lessons of the Basic book in a day and once you are thorough with that material, the Advanced book will be very simple. Answers to the exercises are given at the back of the book. If you do not understand any particular point, seek the help of a GOOD local English teacher. I hope this is of use to others also who are trying to brush up their English before embarking on an educational journey to the U.S.

    • I think envrmnt changes evrythn, let him b amngst english speakers, it will improve. but yeah, he has to commncte, and not hide hmself

  7. I wonder how did you get visa with this english :(
