I have completed my B.Sc. in Biotechnology from Sardar Patel University at India in April-2009. Right now i am in PG Diploma Biotechnology Technologist-Industrial Microbiology (2years) at Centennial College in canada. I am planing for M.Sc. in biotechnology for that i need GRE or not if yes which type general or subject?
MSc degree is offered only in UK, Canada, India,… In America Master of Science M.S. is offered. Yes, you will need to take GRE Exam to apply for Universities in US, check with Colleges in Canada, if they require GRE Exam.

Yes, you can have your uncle as your sponsor. You will need to get bank statement from your uncle while applying for Universities and financial affidavit form. Usually the form will be provided by the University. If not, include in the bank statement that your uncle is sponsoring you.

I do have a question regarding contacting professors. Should I contact a professor before applying for admission in Ph.D. program or should I do it afterwards? Some suggest to contact professors first. If they give a positive reply then the chances for admission and funding increase. Some people won’t even go through your email. So I need some attractive subjects for emails while contacting professors

Interesting question. Many students applying for PhD usually follow how a Masters students will apply for admission to US. But, they don’t understand PhD is much different from applying for Masters Degree. PhD admission process is much distinct and depends on your academic profile (Direct PhD after Bachelors degree or PhD after masters degree). I am going to apply for PhD in Pharmaceutics for fall 2012 to US universities, Actually i m planning to marry my girlfriend(for 5 years) and take her along to US, i am planning to marry her in April 2012(after i get PhD admit) and then we can apply for visa(F1 for me and F2 for her) and leave in august 2012. i wanted to know that if i marry her after getting admitted, will the university provide me with her I20(which is required for F2 visa application for her)?? i had read somewhere that to get her I20 it is necessary to be married before i apply i.e. i have to get married in October 2011 because i will send the applications in Nov 2011. leave a comment or contact me here:rht979@live.com

I HAVE bombed the GRE big time.I was expecting a score of 1400+, but crashed in verbal part and scored only 1290.My academic profile is no good either. A paltry 48% from Univ. of Delhi (UG) and 58% (Biotechnology)from Univ.of Madras.(Position-9th in class) A masters research project.3 years research and teaching experience and good LOR’s . A thoughtful SOP. Searching for universities where I can get in for a PhD position in Molecular Biology/Genetics. Yet to take TOEFL, at least a score of 105+ is what I look for.
Univ. of Southern Mississippi- No Prof. has replied in affirmative as yet.
NDSU- Rejected me even before applying due to my GPA
U MAssa-Amhrest- Still in initial inquiry stage.
Kent State Univ.- Encouraging reply till now.
Univ. of Wisconsin Milwaukee- Reply states a B avarage, but a prof. has shown interest.
Can Any one help me with any suggestions?
