Salary – Masters Vs PhD Vs MBA

in Jobs & Internship

Curious to know how much someone with Masters, PhD and MBA degree will get paid in New York City and San Jose, California?

  1. Many students have asked questions like
  2. How much will I get paid after completing Masters in U.S.?
  3. What will be difference in salary between Masters degree and PhD
  4. If I get MBA, can I double my current salary?
  5. After getting MBA, salary will be in 6 figures?

I had previously written about Average Salary for Masters Degree holders. Following chart will answer some of above questions

Source – Indeed.com

Entry level job for a student who gets hired while in engineering school to be software engineer gets paid Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,00 per month (Approximately USD 4000 per year). Getting masters degree will improve your problem solving skills too. So, what are you still waiting for?

Aditi,

Don’t puzzle or in clear words I’ll say don’t see the monetry benefits that either to go for M.S or M.B.A.

At the end of the day what really matters is your own satisfaction. I’ll advice to go for what your heart says. The field where you be satisfied the most, after all it will the major decision of your life.

Just go for that.

All the best!

general scenario in USA is there are no jobs at this moment, companies are not hiring, there are restrictions on hiring non immigrant aliens.Every employer is asking for citizen or green card holder. Schools have reduced budgets so their ability to give aid is diminished.
Still students from India want to come to US then it should be at their own risk.

In one prestigious university in USA, last August about 250 Indian students passed out with their Master’s, Ph.D. s and MBAs but not a single soul got any job or even internship. Dont spend lakhs of rupees of your parents in coming here in USA to study.

Don’t think about salary man. After recession is over the salaries wont be as good as they were before recession. Its a fact so will you change your decision. Do you want to know the pay that you could possibly get and then decide on coming or you want to come to study in your field.

hi,
i have just complete my engineering in biotech. But i score less marks in B-Tech
only 54%. I know that thinking of studing in US is not good for students like me with poor record but i have taken active participation in extra activities during my academic peroid.
I want to know that if I score good marks in GRE then is there any chance of scoring admission in good university
please do reply

It is difficult to have admission in Masters degree with 54%, but if you GRE score turns out excellent, chances are great. In USA, they give you benefit of doubt. Also, many students like you with low scores in undergraduate turned out capturing great jobs, which includes me. But, once you get admission, change your lifestyle and assume it to be a rebirth. You need to prove yourself at all times during your stay in USA that you are good. Hope, I answered your question.
