For an International Student to stud in US, there is well defined procedure. It includes following steps – Take Tests, Apply for Admission, Get I-20, Get Visa, Study in US. But, not every university in US can issue I-20 to students.
SEVIS and I-20
University or College should be approved and certified by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement before universities can issue I-20 to students. Universities should go through the process to get F & M Certification.
Authorized school officials must obtain and complete Form I-17. An overview of the SEVP Certification process can be found on the ICE website . If approved, the school will be certified and allowed to issue Form I-20 to qualifying foreign students.
