Shortlisting Universities - 1

Its really big decision to make when there is more than 1 admission from schools of completely different profile/rank/location. I still remember how hard it was for me to decide between 5 admits. I had applied for 5 schools and admission kept coming.After I got first admit, I started mailing students(seniors) to find out what kind of place/cost of living ( I know we don’t think about cost of living while applying for schools), part time jobs/ tuition waiver/ RA/TA/ apartments/ roommates/.

Between that, I got admission for another school. So, I had to decide between those schools and so does the contact list increased. Finally, after I got 5 admits, it was difficult few days to decide on the schools. I created a list of details I collected from different people and made a good decision to attend a school in Texas. Let talk about that experience little later.

Studying Master’s gave exposure to what I should have done while applying for universities and how to short schools. Lets talk about that in part 2. Hang on!

Hey great work ,continue the same flow.I have some doubts about getting visa.I have around 10 backlogs during my bachelors degree,but I cleared them by the time I completed my B.tech and I have low academic percentage.My question is How to convince the VO when he asks me about my backlogs?Please help me out.My gre score is 1020.

No I am writing my toefl exam in the coming month .I did not get placed in to any job.

UTA, KSU, U of Arkansas are good. Others are not good. Still you can look for better schools.

XII grade-79%(Science Background)

Bachelor of science(Information
Technology)…CGPA-6.09/10 (amity university,noida)- 3yr degree course

1 yr diploma-PGDCA distance learning from Punjab Tech
University to make up for 16 yr of education.

GRE- 1350 with a break up of 610 and 740 in eng and
quant respectively…Analytical-4.5
(taken in nov 06/valid for 5 yrs)

Toefl(cbt) 287/300 and 6.0 in writing (Taken in sep
06′)

IELTS- 7.5 overall (Taken in Mar 06′)

I have an admit from NJIT(MSIS), Syracuse(MSIM) & UMR (MSIST)..No
aid .. I am really confused If I shuld go ahd
as I have been getting mixed feedbacks from diff
people about the university’s reputation.

Since you’ve been there, I would request a honest
Feedback from your end as It will influence the most
Important decesion of my Life with which I cannot
afford to act careless. I would be taking a Bank loan
for My further studies so it makes the decesion all
the more cruicial for me.

I would like to know about the the placements(after
MS-IST), internships,faculty, students, and on campus job
prospects(is it possible to shell out our own
expenditures)..

I would be highly obliged if you can help me with
the same.

@Kavitha : 1170 is enough to get into good school. I wouldn’t concentrate much about major, instead I would go for M.S. in Computer Science. If you look for schools specific to Info Security, it will be hard to find schools.
