in F1 Visa

Have you ever wondered how many students are in U.S. or how many students from each country come to U.S. for education? Well, if you happen to be in U.S. Consulate for Student Visa Stamping during the months of May, June, July and August then for sure you will get the feel.

Also, when students try to book dates for visa to attend Fall semester, then you will get to know how difficult is to get the Visa date and time. Some students want to appear for visa on particular day and time, but its hard to get.

Students Admitted to U.S.

Department of Home Land security have released the immigration statistics for various Visa categories. Today, you can find the total number of students admitted into U.S. for last 10 years.

The statistics provides the number of admissions to the U.S., not the number of people admitted. If single person, traveling multiple times, would be counted each time s/he enters or exits the United States. If a student travels twice to his home country and enters U.S. twice in given calendar year, his/her count will be two.

Academic students (F1)

  • 1998 – 553,865
  • 1999 – 594,849
  • 2000 – 648,793
  • 2001 – 688,970
  • 2002 – 637,954
  • 2003 – 617,556
  • 2004 – 613,221
  • 2005 – 621,178
  • 2006 – 693,805
  • 2007 – 787,756

What do you infer from the above data? Well, I will let you decide on that. In next edition, I will write about H1B Visa statistics. Source of the above data – DHS.

If you want to be one among those numbers, then here some articles that will help you get student visa stamping.

I was looking at various visa categories and it was interesting to see those. I hope you will also enjoy the date about immigration statistics, I’m going to post in coming weeks.
