Usually during orientation Banks nearby the college campus will be visiting the college with their booth setup. So, that will reduce your trip to the bank to open the bank account.
When there is more than one bank in campus, they will compete to get your business. So, ask for free check books ( I have got 150 free check’s ).
Just make sure there is no monthly account maintenance fee. I will talk about different options to transfer money to India or ways to get money from India.
