I came across this article from Murthy.com
…. Visa applicants are also prohibited from carrying any items other than their passports and visa-related documents. I-94 is Arrival/Departure record, issued by U.S. Immigration ( USCIS). I -94 will be given when in flight before landing in U.S. Immigration officer will write down arrival date, when authorized period of stay expires in U.S. Also, immigration office might ask you few questions about your purpose of your visit.
Make sure its staple to your passport pages. Don’t lose it. You have to return it when departing the country, either by land, sea, or flight. If they don’t ask for it, make sure you give it to concerned person, before departure. Click here to find more information about I-94 form.
Port of Entry

In-flight you will be given 2 forms. One for US Customs and one for Immigration.
Immigration form will have I-94 attached to it. You will need to fill out both the forms.
You must have seen in applications that would say ‘Print Name here’. It did confuse me when I saw that first time. You can pen down your name there.
Make sure you have an address where you will stay after you enter into US. If you are not sure about an address ( some will be put at temp accommodation ), you can give your International Office address, later after finding your own apartment near the university, make sure to change the address using AR 11 form
In the Customs form you will be asked to fill out detail about what you are carrying with you and how much you are carrying.
Immigration officer will take your passport, I 20, Customs and Immigration form and ask you few questions. It shouldn’t take more than few minutes. Though, you need to stand in the queue.
Then go to baggage claim area, pick up your bags and walk over to the customs officer and handover the Customs form.
Whoa! you are in USA.
