Tax Free Holidays 2008

By HSB

Students planning to buy Laptop, make use of Tax Free Weekend. During Tax Free Weekend all Schools supplies like Books, Clothes, Desktop or Laptop can be purchased without Sales Tax. That will be huge savings if you are planning to buy Laptop. I’m sure students new to U.S. will have tough time trying find which laptop to buy and how much to pay for it. In order to make their job easy, I have put together Students Laptop Buying guide.

How Much Savings?

For example if cost of the laptop is $1000, then with Sales Tax of 7% it will be $1070. Sales Tax vary between states. So, buying laptop during Tax Free Weekend will save $70. Which is huge money for students.

$70 is more huge saving especially for Fall 2008 students who are just coming to U.S. and again, if students miss this opportunity, then they will have to wait for one more year to get this opportunity.

Tax Free Holiday 2008 Schedule

Not all states offer Tax Free Holidays. Checkout BankRate’s Tax Free Holiday Schedule for 2008 and see if your state have tax free weekend. It’s my understanding that, billing address can be in different state, shipping the laptop to one o the tax free states will save money.
