Raghu,
You did not mention one other important place that has two universities in the top 100: Hong Kong. The University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). In fact HKUST has always been ranked among the top 20 in many Engineering disciplines.
Dr.Muppala – Congrats on the ranking again. I’m looking for a designer to create a detailed infographic based on the Times Ranking Data. In the next version, I will find a place to highlight the Hong Kong. Also, I saw the your ad in the Times Site. I have few suggestion with your ad campaign that can improve your conversion. I will send the details to your email.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise if none of our Country’s universities even come near the top universities in the world.
I have not seen research papers or inventions coming from Indian universities(not students of course), at least not with the frequency at which top American, European, Japanese or Australian universities publish.
Granted Indian students have a really great potential, but Indian universities are simply poorly mismanaged because their primary initiatives are driven by politics.
You can detect every bit of honest curiosity and passion for the subject a student wishes to learn in a university essay, but an Indian high schooler considers the iit’s, aiims or the iims because they deliver a promise for a fat paycheck.
I do not mean to offend any individual’s patriotic feeling; I myself feel bad that our education system is such a mess but that said, I had every bit of an obligation and the rights as a citizen to express my concern and opinion.
How about India?
None.
