@Madhavi – You can arrange loon only after you get admission and I-20 from the University.

I started browsing the day when my daughter enrolled herself for GRE coaching class so that I am totally aware of the scenario. She is planning for Fall 2011 admission. Now I browse more than my daughter about GRE and MS. I am really happy to have come cross your website. After reading several blogs of yours, I am 60% clear about the entire process.
Now I would like to know your opinion about University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) for MS Computer Science. My friend who lives in MD is saying high about UMBC, though her daughter has opted for University of Maryland,College park. I have not come across this name in any of your blogs though Princeton review and US news have listed UMBC as a very promising college.Could you pls enlighten me on this college and also their GRE requirement.

Hello Charu – You are the second active parent in the blog now looking for information about Universities. I went through the university site to find more info. You can definitely apply to the program, but College Park has higher value to the degree, having said that if your daughter can get the required exposure during Masters, it will not make huge difference during job search.

Thanks for your reply and efforts. I have also gone through the website of UMBC extensively but unable to find their min GRE score requirement. Since College Park is one of the top universities in the US, I am concentrating on colleges with 1100 to 1200 GRE Score and within 30 lacs(all inclusive)budget. From your blogs I have come to an idea about the universities that my daughter will be able to apply.One more clarification – Could you pls tell me if international students need to pay OUT OF STATE students fees or is there any other fees structure only for International students.I have read your blog on this subject but still I am not clear.

Pranav – Admission with aid will be difficult for GRE 1120. You will have to come to US and try for Aid.

I have applied to 6 univs:
Louisiana tech- ruston, East carolina univ, univ of texas-san antonio, univ of missouri-st.louis, univ of north dakota, univ of houston-clear lake.

@vasundhra bahl: applying for PhD is not same as applying for M.S. you should search universities based on research, not based on scholarship.

@HARISH KUMAR: Your work experience will count, but if you are not applying for Mechanical Engineering job with Aerospace background you will be still considered as entry level candidate. But, if you study IE or Mech in Masters, that will help you get job bit easier.
Hi..RAghu….u doing a great job.by udadating ur experinces…..i have done my btech in mechanical engineering in 2007 and presently working for GE . my workex is abt 18 months. i am plannig for MS for 2009 fall but i hadnt wrote GRE & TOEFEL. i have no clue wen would be the best option to write it. i am interested in aerospace but my workex is not related to aerospace.
