July 11, 2008 by Raghuram
When someone board the flight to U.S. their baggage is checked-in and during the transit, when they have to change their flight, baggage form flight has to transferred to final destination. Airports handles thousands of bags every minute.
If in case the baggage is lost in transit, you will have to get the connection flight, then baggage will come later date/time after the passenger reaches the port of entry. But, TSA guys have to check each and every bag before allowing them to U.S.
Why ordinary locks will be broke?
TSA officers need to break ordinary baggage locks since airport officers will to look into your bag no matter how big or obvious the content in your luggage’s are. Ordinary locks are not recognized by these officers and for them these are only distractions to their inspection routine. If they have time though, they can return your lock intact.
Whats special about TSA Locks?
TSA officers will recognize the TSA logo on the luggage lock, they can easily open your baggage. TSA inspectors have special keys that can universally access all TSA-made locks.
If you dont get TSA Locks for cheap while travelling towards U.S. best thing to do is leave the suitcase unlocked. But, travelling away from U.S. make sure suitcase is locked using TSA Locks. TSA Locks can be purchased from Walmart for cheap.
But, before deciding if the baggage has to locked or not, suitcase has to be purchased ( Suitcase buying guide) and then packed and here list of things required for students going to U.S.
