When application with USCIS for H1B, OPT, L1, I-140 or any other application, USCIS will issues a receipt number.
Receipt number will be mailed to your employer or attorney.
Using the receipt number, you will be able to check you application status using USCIS Case Status webpage.
Sometimes, USCIS Case Status check portal will not show the right status.
There might be delay between actual status of the application and status reflected in the USCIS case status check page.
Several folks have reported that case status wasn’t update even after they received approval notice.
But, for most of the times, you should be able to get the accurate data/status of your application.
